It’s the first day of spring, yay! This is by far my favorite season in Houston and I try to spend as much time as possible outdoors before the summer heat hits. We love packing up a picnic and heading to the park in the afternoons. I typically keep the food simple with an assortment of fruit, cheeses and crackers. I’ll put some flavored sparkling water and juice boxes for Piper in the cooler with an ice pack. Sometime I’ll even throw in some canned wine for the adults if it’s close to happy hour. :) It doesn’t need to be a big ordeal but I promise cute gear will make it feel festive. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite color picnic items below!
Two days after Piper’s birthday bash we left for New York and have been gone for almost six weeks on and off. I have a new respect for people who travel all the time for work. I’m still exhausted, everything is a mess and I have a stack of Christmas cards I never opened. But today is my first day in my work routine and it feels sooo good! I’m ready to dive into 2019 and I have so many fun ideas swirling around in my head. But before I do anything else, I’m getting the photos from Piper’s party out into the universe!
Was anyone else obsessed with Winnie the Pooh as a kid?! It was by far my favorite cartoon and with the release of the movie, Christoper Robin this summer, I knew a group costume with all our favorite characters from the 100 acre woods would be perfect for this Halloween! Last year I partnered with Primary to create two dessert inspired DIY costumes that you can see here. I have to say this is one of my favorite projects of the year. How adorable are my friends babies?!
When we remodeled our house last summer the dining room was the only space we didn't touch. It's the first room you see when you walk in the front door and I wanted to give it more of a wow factor but was stumped on what to do. Any ideas I had were shot down because we had so many other projects going on with the kitchen, bathrooms, and closets - not to mention a baby on the way! Here we are about a year after wrapping up the big projects and I have the itch to finally give our dining room a much needed face lift
There might be record breaking temps all across the country but summertime screams outdoor dinner parties. We're heading to Colorado in a couple weeks and I'm so excited to sit out on the back deck for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I pulled together no fuss dinner party inspiration using items from Bed, Bath & Beyond just in case you have the itch to dine al fresco like me.
I've never met a theme I didn't like especially when it comes to summer entertaining! With Memorial Day this weekend, you might be tempted to decorate with traditional flag decor but I challenge you to think outside the box a little bit!
We came really close to tearing this porch down but I’m so glad we didn’t! Instead we gave it a much needed facelift and updated some furniture with the help of Tuesday Morning! I knew these blue chairs had to come home with me the minute I saw them in store. I’m so excited about the space and I know we’ll use it a ton this spring and summer!
This room is the definition of a labor of love! Between the Otomi stencil wall my mom and I painted or the countless yarn poms and tassels I made while counting down the final days of my pregnancy, this room was my favorite project yet!
I'm so excited to finally share the before and after of our kitchen remodel! This was our first time renovating and let me tell ya, watching HGTV does NOT mentally prepare you for a project like this haha! We learned a few lessons the hard way and today I'm sharing our biggest takeaways from the process.
One of my favorite holidays is on Sunday and even though I’ll be traveling, you better believe I’ll be celebrating with a margarita in hand! I absolutely love Mexico - the food, dresses, Otomi pattern you name it, I’m here for it! We are headed to Punta Mita, Mexico in a few weeks and I’m getting ready by celebrating Cinco de Mayo with a hydrating margarita recipe. I promise I will post a trip recap after this stay in Punta Mita as I know many of you have asked.
I asked my friend Marla from The Blonde Pantry to create a couple grazing boards for Piper’s party in December. Since then, several people have asked how to recreate something similar at home. We teamed up to break it down step by step. Cheese boards, charcuterie boards and grazing boards are all similar but I how much variety the term grazing board allows. You have as much freedom as you’d like to create something beautiful for your guests.
I know I say this before every holiday but how is Easter only a couple weeks away?! We have our first Easter egg hunt this upcoming weekend and I’m super excited for Piper to experience the fun. She was only a few months old last Easter so I kept her Easter basket pretty simple but now that she’s a full blown toddler, this Easter is extra special. Bed Bath & Beyond is my go-to when it comes to holidays and entertaining so when I was searching for what to add to her basket, I headed there first!
Now that Piper is a super active toddler, we’re constantly on the go! I love watching her explore, collect treasures (i.e. acorns and rocks) at the park, make animal noises at the zoo, and play with other kiddos during playdates! I know development is super important right now, so we’re doing our best to get her out of the house and experiencing new things—even if it’s exploring in our backyard.
I’ve mentioned this on instagram stories a few times but we are closing on our new house in a few days - yay! We have to paint and update a few things before we move in but I’m really excited to have more space and storage. We’ll use a lot of furniture we currently have but need some new pieces and light fixtures to make it our own. Today kicks off Way Day - the biggest sale of the year for Wayfair, All Modern, Joss & Main and Birch Lane plus free shipping on everything! You can’t beat the prices so I pulled the trigger on some items I’ve been eyeing. I’ve included links to all my purchases below. Happy shopping!
