I tried a violet cocktail at a new Houston restaurant and completely fell in love. The color was amazing and I loved the subtle flavor the Creme de Violette gave. I tracked down a bottle of the fancy liqueur at a speciality store and can't wait to whip this cocktail up for my next dinner party!

The Violet Fizz

  • 1/2 oz Creme de Violette
  • Sparkling Wine
  • Juice from 1/4 of a Lemon
  • Sprig of rosemary for the garnish
  • Caramelized lemon slice 

Fill glass 3/4 of the way with sparkling wine or champagne, then add 1/2 oz of Creme de Violette and lemon juice. Garnish with lemon slice and spring of rosemary. This cocktail was part of a styled shoot we did a couple months ago and I had The Foodie Chef brûlée the lemon slices for the cocktail by adding sugar to the top of the sliced citrus and using a small kitchen torch to create a char. I love how it turned out!
